June 2023
Arunodhaya organised awareness programmes on World child labour day. Rally in Royapuram, handprint against child labour in Tondiarpet in the presence of Ms Jayalakshmi, Asst commissioner of labour, oath taking by stakeholders in Egmore railway station followed by street play, signature campaign in the platform in Egmore railway station.
Young Scientists for Social Change - Scientific inventions exhibition was organised on 3rd June 2023 by Arunodhaya. Thirteen projects were presented by children. Making products from e waste, shoes for physically challenged, ideas to prevent pollution from factories, prevent children from falling into open drains etc were presented.

Imayam SHG federation, Tiruvottiyur celebrated women's day. Ward Councilar, Mr Karthick, Sub Inspector Ms Kalpana, Mr. Elumalai, school HM felicitated the women groups.

Arunodhaya Amudhasurabhi federation organised women's day programme at Korukkupet on the theme 'Realising our dreams and aspirations' Mr Ebenezer MLA. R.K. Nagar constituency was the chief guest.

Independant pattas were distributed to 48 Irula families in Arunodhaya nagar, Athipet. The land is donated by Arunodhaya. The government has agreed to construct houses for them. Sub collector, MLA and other ward members and govt officials were present on the occasion.

Street play crating awareness on homelessness conducted by Arunodhaya cultural team on 14th October at R.R.nagar, Kodungaiyur
Members of State Education Policy committee interacted with Arunodhaya children sangam members and Arunodhaya women group members. Children and women shared their views and expectations on what should be included in the policy. Thanks to Prof Sultan, Prof. Srinivasan, Dr. Aruna and Ms Jaishree for their presence and valuable interaction with our members.

Arunodhaya organised training for youth to initiate action to curb substance abuse and online abuse among their peers in their communities. The programme was held on 11th Sep 2022.

Children nagara Sabai meeting held in 10 wards on 15th August 2922 Municipal councilars, area leaders, police, ICDS representative etc. were present on the occasion. Children presented their views and opinions on issues concerning children and presented their demands.

Arunodhaya organised awareness campaign on education inviting the parents to send all children studying in classes 9th to 12th std to start going to school from 1st September onwards.
Shelter home for homeless boys was started in the year 2013 at R,.R. nagar, Kodungaiyur. The Shleter home is supported by Greater Chennai Corporation under the scheme ‘Shelter for Urban Homeless. The shelter located opposite to the dumping yard reaches out to children working in the dumping yard, staying in the vicinity of the dumping yard, who have no homes or come form dysfunctional families. The home meets the basic needs of the children and guides them in getting educated, trained in good behaviour and have higher aspirations in life.
Awareness on child protection was held at AIR sire, Ernavur on 14th August 2021. Ms. Sridevi, Inspector of police and Mr. Ramesh Kartik spoke on the occasion.

Adolescent consultation 2021 on the theme ‘Our aspirations and dreams- voice of adolescents’ was held on28th February 2021. Nearly 150 adolescents participated in the event. They expressed through exhibition and cultural events the family, school and the community they reimagine.

Children from shelter home visited the Museum at Egmore and enjoyed playing in the park. They were happy to have an outing after a long long time.
Training on sexual and reproductive health is being organised for boys. The sessions are conducted by youth boys who have been trained as TOTs.
